Well, the day finally came - The first ever performance of Fuzzy Wuzzy Caterpillar! All the hard work that the children put into the show really paid off and they were truly amazing. I can admit now that I was worried that some of the part singing in the songs for this show were going to be a bit too challenging for our little singers. They are bursting with enthusiasm but they are also only 5, 6 and 7 years old! But something happened that also happens in the classroom sometimes... they rose and rose to the challenge we set. And they were fabulous. Sometimes I wonder whether we are the role models for the children, or whether they are the role models for us.
We can learn a lot from the way children enjoy singing with such abandon, and, if we assume they will achieve, then they believe that they will too - nothing is impossible. Doctors have recently started to think about prescribing group singing to those with mental health issues and illnesses. There are no words to describe the change in your emotions as you sing with others, but science is starting to prove the singing IS good for the soul.
