New Halloween Canon in 4 parts!

I don't know about you, but I love singing "Have you seen the ghost of John" with my students! I love the spooky minor key vibe and the fact that they get such a kick out of singing in harmony together through the canon.

But...

I feel like we could do with some variety this October. Using the Ghost of John as my inspiration, I created this canon for 4 voices in a spooky A minor key with a chilled hiphop beat and some ethereal synth sounds. I am hoping the students will enjoy it as much as the Ghost of John! You can find it on YouTube and the mp3s of the vocal guide and backing track with lyrics are available here.

We are lucky to have an assembly each week where we start with singing. It is the most amazing sound when you have 200 children singing their hearts out, and even better when there is a little harmony thrown in. Canons with large numbers of people are easy to manage, but effective as performance pieces and are a fabulous stepping stone to singing in harmony.

What do you do over the Halloween period - do you have any tried and tested songs that your students love? Let me know - I am always looking for new things!
